Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)

Minnesota law requires parties in most legal disputes to attempt some form of alternative dispute resolution (ADR). The ADR process allows individuals to settle a legal dispute outside of the typical courtroom setting. ADR includes:

  • Mediation
  • Arbitration
  • Early Neutral Evaluations (ENE).

Generally, ADR tends to be less costly and less adversarial than courtroom litigation, and typically has a high rate of success. All of our attorneys represent clients who are involved in the ADR process in their specialized fields of practice.

Additionally, FHE attorneys Drew Hultgren and JoAnn Evenson are Rule 114 Qualified Neutrals, and are available to conduct ADR processes for private parties upon request. Drew focuses his ADR practice primarily in the areas of Business Law, Family Law and Real Estate – with a specialized emphasis in Municipal Boundary Adjustment disputes. JoAnn focuses her ADR practice predominately in the area of Family Law.
